Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 5 October 2026

This policy explains, in plain language, what information Interview Practice Lab collects when you use the site, why we collect it, where it goes and how you can see, change or delete it.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Who We Are

Interview Practice Lab ("IPL", "we", "our" or "us") is an interview practice, learning and coaching service run from Queensland, Australia.

You can contact us about privacy at any time at judymicha@interviewpracticelab.com.

2. What We Collect

Depending on what you use, we collect:

  • Account details: your email address, name (if you give it) and sign-in details.
  • Practice answers: the text you type, and transcripts of what you say aloud.
  • Scores and feedback on your answers, plus your progress, streaks and badges.
  • Workbook and course responses, journal stories, interview plans and anything else you save in your account.
  • Payment status: what you bought, the amount and date. Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
  • Newsletter details: your email, first name (if given) and which free resources you asked for, held with Brevo.
  • Booking details for coaching, collected through Calendly and our intake form.
  • Support chat messages you send through the help chat.
  • Basic usage and device data: pages visited, the website that referred you, browser type, and a random visitor ID stored in your browser. To apply free demo limits we keep a one-way, salted hash of your IP address (not the address itself) for 7 days.

3. How We Use It

  • To run the practice tools and give you feedback on your answers
  • To manage your account, purchases and coaching bookings
  • To send the resources and emails you asked for (you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time)
  • To answer support questions
  • To keep the site secure, prevent misuse and apply free usage limits
  • To understand what is working and improve the site and our ads

We do not sell your personal information.

4. AI Scoring & Speech

When you submit a practice answer, the question and your answer (typed or transcribed) are sent to AI models through the Lovable AI gateway to produce scores and feedback. Depending on the feature, the model may be from Google (Gemini) or OpenAI. If you paste a job description or resume, that text is sent the same way.

When you speak an answer, the audio is sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to turn it into words. When the coach reads questions or feedback aloud, that text is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech.

AI feedback is a practice aid. It can be wrong, and it is never used to make decisions about you.

5. Video Recordings

Video and audio recordings you make while practicing are saved only in your own browser on your device (in browser storage called IndexedDB). They are not uploaded to us.

In the course delivery coaching mode only, up to 3 still frames (no more than 640 pixels wide, JPEG at 70% quality) are taken from your recording and held in memory. They are sent to an AI model for feedback on your camera setup only: framing, eye line, lighting and background. They are then discarded and never stored.

We do not use facial recognition or biometrics, and the AI is instructed not to comment on your appearance.

Still frames are never sent from the free practice demo or from the Government Application workbook.

6. Who We Share It With

We share only what each service needs to do its job:

  • Our hosting provider, which runs our database, file storage and sign-in
  • The Lovable AI gateway and the AI model providers behind it, for scoring and feedback
  • Google Cloud, for speech-to-text and text-to-speech
  • Stripe, for payments
  • Brevo, for email
  • Calendly, for coaching bookings
  • Google Ads, LinkedIn and TikTok, for ad measurement (see section 8)

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

7. Overseas Storage & Processing

Your information is stored and processed outside Australia:

  • Our database, file storage and sign-in system are in Paris, France (Amazon Web Services, eu-west-3).
  • AI scoring and Google speech services process data mainly in the United States, and Google may use other data centres.
  • The small server functions that run the site operate on a global edge network, usually close to you, and connect back to the database in France.
  • Our payment provider, Stripe, processes data globally, including in the United States and India, with many of its service providers in the European Union, the United States and India.
  • Our email provider, Brevo, stores data in secure data centres and may transfer it to the United States and India, where it also has operations.
  • Our booking provider, Calendly, processes and stores data mainly in the United States and in other countries where it or its providers operate.
  • The ad platforms named in section 8 may also store data in the United States, Europe or elsewhere.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy. By using the site you acknowledge that your information will be handled overseas. We choose established providers with their own security and privacy commitments.

8. Advertising & Cookies

To measure our ads, the site uses tags from Google Ads, LinkedIn and TikTok. They record pages visited, free-resource signups (your email is hashed before it is sent) and completed purchases (item and price in AUD).

For visitors in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland, or where we cannot tell your region, the TikTok tag is not loaded and Google Ads and TikTok conversion events are not sent.

We also use your browser's local storage for things like your sign-in, demo progress, checklist ticks and spelling preference. You can opt out of personalised ads in your Google, LinkedIn and TikTok ad settings, or block third-party cookies in your browser.

9. How Long We Keep It

We keep your account data for 12 months after your last activity. After that we delete it or de-identify it so it no longer identifies you.

Payment records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires. Demo-limit records are deleted after 7 days.

10. Deleting Your Data

You can delete your data yourself at any time. Sign in and go to Account → Privacy & data:

  • Delete my recordings removes practice recordings saved in that browser.
  • Delete my data permanently deletes your practice sessions, answers, scores, feedback, workbook responses, profile and recordings in that browser, then deletes your account.

We keep a record of past payments because the law requires it. If you can't sign in, email judymicha@interviewpracticelab.com and we will help.

11. Your Rights & Complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing judymicha@interviewpracticelab.com. We will reply within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please tell us first so we can fix it. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

12. Under 18s

When you create an account we ask you to confirm you are 18 or over, or that you have a parent or guardian's permission. If you think a child has given us information without permission, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections, access to our systems is restricted, and each account can only see its own data. No online service is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will tell you if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we will let account holders know.
